Staays

A quietly see-and-be-seen guesthouse (with an entrance behind an unassuming green door) mere minutes away from the best of Porto's spots to see, eighteen dreamily minimal rooms stretch out across five historical buildings but ditch the welcome desks and check-out times; a stay here is totally on your agenda. Interiors-wise, it’s beautiful and grown up. Simple, stripped back and very stylish, it was done up by Space Copenhagen. And it all so carefully matches the curated and regionally-inspired menu from Nuno Mendes – try the turnip and caviar pastéis de nata (but forget everything you know about the custard tart). They go big on detail too, with an art collection to fall in love with and spaces to really settle into (the gym, those views, and that stunning wide-sweeping spiral staircase that acts as the spine of the hotel.
