The thing with Rome is that it’s big…bigger than we often think. And the strategy, sometimes, is to be in the belly of all the action. Like at Palazzo Roma. On the iconic Via Del Corso, the 39-room eclectic stay is just by the Trevi Fountain (and one of our favourite gelaterias Giolitti). The team behind it were keen to renovate rather than rip out and start again, so there is storytelling everywhere you look: original frescoes, coffered ceilings, inlaid wood panels, Versailles-style parquet floors, and precious marbles (there are over 20 types). It’s fun and playful (on top of its historic charm), classic and contemporary, so it suits every type of traveller. With such an evolving hotel scene here, Palazzo Roma already fits right in.
