When Marie-Louise Sciò, the brain behind some of Italy’s most glamorous and much-loved properties (Il Pellicano, La Posta Vecchia) opens a hotel, it’s almost always set to be a sure-fire hit. That was certainly the case with Mezzatorre, the seaside hideout on the island of Ischia, which not only took on some spillover from glitzy neighbouring Capri but managed to fly low-key too. Formerly a watchtower, the thermal site is now filled with coral-tinted shades and pretty breezy pool-side parasols Slim Aarons would undoubtedly love. As usual, there’s a well-dressed team who are warm, friendly and fun and equally know how to make a mean Campari spritz. The true Dolce Vita.
