Lilou gets the best of the South of France but doesn’t totally feel like the South of France. Located in the charming town of Hyeres, a seaside spot between Marseilles and Saint Tropez, it was once a popular winter destination for the glamorous European elite. You can expect bucket loads of classic charm – from the 19th-century building – and that Huassmann facade – to its 1930s interiors by Paris-based Studio Haddou-Dufourcq: warm, vanilla tones, rattan accents, and bold bathroom tiling (spot those dreamy yellow-and-cream walls). There’s also a keen eye for art, which was curated by Jean-Pierre Blanc, director of nearby Villa Noailles. Summering Parisians normally spend time lounging about in between dips in the sea and a plunge in the pool, followed by a long lazy hazy lunch.
