Le Sirenuse is one of the greats – a long-standing well-tailored hotel that manages to prove time after time that Italians really do know how to do it better. Once the summering villa of the Sersale family, they’ve managed to extend their cherry red walls into adjoining buildings in order to fit their eclectic collection of furniture and art but also the white-trimmed, bougainvillaea-lined terrace that holds one of the prettiest pools we’ve ever jumped into. Staff are on it but keep a low profile for guests who are here not for Amalfi madness but rather the sophisticated refuge and their keen admiration for hospitality. That view is also another reason regulars return, it’s an iconic snapshot of Positano’s pastel prettiness below, best enjoyed with a Negroni in hand from Aldo’s bar.
